We’ve been seeing a lot of bike share programs taking off around the Chicagoland area. Most recently, we saw a Daily Herald article about Kane County starting a county-wide bike share program.

Outside of Chicago, we know of bike share programs in McHenry County, Kankakee County, Aurora, Bloomington-Normal, South Elgin, Batavia, DeKalb, Peoria, and Urbana-Champaign.

There’s a few interesting ones like the bike share in Canton, IL between the Canton Park District and the Graham Health System to take advantage of trails in the community. Or the bike share at Argonne National Laboratory. You can “Bike the Preserves” with the the Forest Preserves of Cook County.

If you wanted to start a bike share program, who do you see as a role model in Illinois? Who would you call for advice?
